Register one hour before dark. We will shoot rain or shine. If raining we will shoot indoors and the scores will count towards the championship.
KEOWEE 3D COON SHOOT FORMAT/RULES
Coarse Setup: Ten 3D coon targets will be placed at unmarked distances. Targets that face you will have a reflective tack in both eyes. Targets that are positioned sideways will have a tack in only one eye. White stakes are set for traditional and youth shooters at a maximum distance of 20 yards. Orange stakes are set for all other shooters at a maximum distance of 30 yards.
Pee Wees, 7 and under, may shoot as close as they wish.
Teams: Teams
will consist of archers of mixed classes based on sex, age, equipment and abilities. Shooters 7 and under must be accompanied by their guardian and their score will not be included in the team score. Registration will begin at approximately an hour before dark and drawing for teams at just prior to dark. Team size will be determined according to the total number of shooters. In the case of teams with an extra shooter, the team average score will be deducted from the team total or if a team is short one shooter, the team average will be added to the team total. A shotgun start will begin as soon as appropriate darkness is achieved. We will draw new teams for each shoot.
Fee: For shooters 8 and older the shoot fee is $5 per person. Shooters 7 and under shoot free.
Lights: The club will provide one flashlight per team, which will be the only light allowed illuminated while anyone on your team is shooting. Personal lights may be used when no shooting is taking place. (please return club flashlights to registration table after tournament completion) Glow-in-the-dark light sticks will be positioned near each orange stake

Optional Money pot: $5 per person. The money pot payout will be 100% and go to individual high score shooters. The number of places paid is based on number of participating shooters:
20 - 29 shooters = 3 places; 50%, 30%, 20%
10 - 19 shooters = 2 places; 60%, 40%
2 - 9 shooters = 1 place; 100%
Ties: Tie scores will be broken by first points lost starting from the top of the scorecard, regardless of your starting target.
Awards: The Keowee Coon shooters pin award will be presented to; each winning team member, the overall high score winner and the youth high score winner.
Note: For Keowee Bowmen members only, we will keep the individual scores from each coon shoot during the year to use in determining the "KEOWEE COON SHOOTER OF THE YEAR" award presented at the annual Bowhunters Banquet. (The lowest score or one no-score will be dropped from the calculation). Coon shoot points will also be included in our other “ARCHER OF THE YEAR” award calculations
Coon Shooting and How it's done
First of all this is an open shoot; In other words you do not have to be a member of Keowee Bowmen to shoot.
Keowee is proud to countinue our Coon Shooters Championship. The championship consist of five shoot coon shooting tournaments, with the first tournament starting on April 16th.The format will consist of teams of mixed classes with one stake set for traditional and youth shooters and one stake set for all other shooters. The club will provide the flashlights to be used while shooting; however, you may bring your personal light to use when walking to and from targets and when no shooting is taking place.
Awards will be coon shooter pins to all of the winning team members and also to the highest score; irregardless of team.
We will draw for teams about an hour before darkand begin shooting as soon as appropriate darkness is achieved. The fee will be $5 per person and there will be an optional $5 per person money pot. The money pot will go to individual high score shooters with 100% payout and number of places paid based on number of participating shooters. (See below)
Remember the shooter with the highest combined score on all the coon shoots will determine a Keowee Coon Shooting Champion (Name on the wall plaque)
